I was ready to install my fuel pump assembly back into the tank and noticed this wire was broken. Is this some kind of diode? I assume this wire should be attached but is no longer. How would I fix this?
Pretty sure it's a capacitor. It's not available individually from Honda, and it is not documented in the wiring diagram. Might check ebay if you can't solder the wire back on.
Oh that is good to know. The one on there seems to be spot welded or soldered to the whole pump assembly for a ground im assuming. The other end of the wire goes down to the bottom of the assembly at the deepest part of the assembly when installed in the tank. So all I have to do is solder the end of the wire to the point where it is now and find a new ground and im good?
I would think the current sender is probably dead but you could try that for sure. If you don't get a low gas warning, you can ignore it or replace it. It's already grounded by virtue of being pressed into that metal holder. A new one would work the same way, just remove the existing ground wire off the side.
Don't leave that wire hanging though - too much risk of a spark.

Got it. I ordered a new sensor but its about a month out. I just cut the wire and capped it with heat shrink for the time being. I found something else wrong with the bike anyways so it'll sit here until its ready. Thanks!
