Why do the apostrophe's keep coming out as quotation marks in massive quantities?

It's really annoying and as you can tell from this post it looks like I am an idiot and don't know the difference between an apostrophe and a quotation.

 

its the evil forum software. HONEST, and we are told we are in for a upgrade.

 

It*s a bug in the matrix. I*ve been using asterisks to get around it for now until the upgrade.
Make sure not to use apostrophes in SUBJECT LINES or it goes way out of control by the 10th reply.
