Photobucket changes and what it means for the forum
Photobucket in their infinite wisdom have decided that all users of the website will be held to ransom to pay $39.99 per month to be able to link photos from Photobucket to any forum - CBR Forum included.
Thus you will see a lot of this ..... http://advrider.com/index.php?attach...-3-png.886193/ as you scroll through the various threads. Rightly so, Photobucket users are downloading all their photos and deserting the site, but it will take a lot of time to relink photos in the various threads - if people can be bothered. I have hundreds of Photobucket linked photos on this forum and as you may well imaging am rightly pissed at their actions. Cheers, SB |
Photobucket has a free version still. Unfortunately, it has so many ads and pop ups that it's completely useless and near impossible to use. Any photos that are uploaded and used on this forum will still function, so please leave them be for the good of all our threads.
There are other sites that offer free sharing, but only the links can be put on threads. I've been searching for a way other than Photobucket to get the pictures to show up directly in posts. If anyone knows of a good site with correct links, please let me know. |
Yes it still does have a 2GB 'limited' free plan Demon. but:
From: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/0..._3rdparty_pgs/ The change of heart was quietly introduced by Photobucket earlier this week as an update to its terms of service. On the one hand, it's reasonable for Photobucket to ask for some help in footing its bandwidth bills for serving up images for folks on other websites; on the other hand, it will break a lot of graphics posted on the 'net and inlined in forums and blogs. "Photobucket defines 3rd-party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website," the updated T&Cs read. "For example, using the <img alt=""> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, Etsy, eBay auction listings, a blog, etc, is definitively 3rd-party hosting." ALL photos hosted by Photobucket are considered to be third party ímage hosted' to the CBR Forum. And from the Photobucket updated Terms: Terms | Photobucket Types of Accounts, Pricing and Limits
o Plus 100 Plan: 102 GB of Storage for $99.99 / Year. The Plus 100 Plan allows for unlimited image linking but does not allow 3rd party image hosting. o Plus 500 Plan: 500 GB of Storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 / Year. The Plus 500 Plan allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd party image hosting. If their are ANY Photobucket linked Photos an the CBR Forum it is just a matter of time until they are de-linked by Photobucket themselves. SB |

I have been using Supermotors.net for my hosting and linking. Its free...and easy to use. Might not be everyone's cup of tea? just another possible option for someone.

Thanks Locopny, I'm going to be away for a few days, but I'll do a list of options and costs when I get back.
Cheers, SB |
Yep. Just trying to help out. I'm reading a lot of folks are not real pleased with Photobucket's actions right now. It had to be easy to use for me to be able to work it...as I don't have any 10 year old kids to make it work for me. ha

I'm going to start using imgur. There is a place to get the share links and use the img code for forums. The result will be the same as photobollocks with the image on the post.
