just a suggestion if you still have the factory pillion handy -- i stripped the fabric off mine, taped around the fairing and used fiberglass + bondo to "make" a cowl out of the factory seat. i had the Targa one, but never felt like it was very securely mounted or latched -- using the factory seat as a base made it super sturdy imo.
