yoshimura rs-3 on 2006 f4i
 

Hello,

I got my rs-3 exhaust yesterday and was psyched to install it but I'm having some issues. It really doesn't seem to fit very well.

Problems are:
1. Clearance to swing arm is not much. In picture yoshrs3-3 I'm holding a ruler on the swing arm so you can see how close it is. With no load the can sits above the swing arm, but under riding conditions the swing arm will be very close the the front end of the can. The can will be about 1/8" away from the swing arm worst case. Is anyone else having this issue and if not how close is your installed RS-3 to the arm (a picture would be awesome)

2. The pipe seems to stick out near the header and then come back in towards the outlet. It's not parallel to the plane of the wheel like the stock pipe (pic yoshrs3-4)

3. Finally the mounting bracket is jammed up against the bottom of the passenger foot peg mount (pic yoshrs3-5). This is no big deal but it seems to add to the general feeling that I've got something wrong.

From everything I've read the Yosh stuff fits perfectly so I'm pretty bummed about this. If all this stuff is normal I'll go with it.

If anyone has this setup and could comment on how their's fits, or post a pic or two that would be awesome.

Also, I do have it lined up with respect to the outlet oval being aligned correctly as you look at the back of the bike (if that makes any sense).

It is a little tough to see by the pictures you took. What side did you put the spacer on? I know that can make a huge difference. Hopefully these pics will help you.

yeah something is off clearly - take some pictures from a farther distance, and of the attachment. Like canadian stated, it could just be you put the spacer on the wrong side (I did this when I installed it the first time, but noticed it immediately).

Did yours come with a spacer that goes between the mounting bracket and foot peg? I remember having to go and buy a longer bolt because of the spacer. Its about a 1/4 inch spacer. That might stick it out farther.

The biggest problem I had was getting the O2 sensor to reach. It barley fit.

I had it on exactly as canadian_f4i had it. And it was super close to the swing arm.

I played around with it last night and if I flip the bracket around I get plenty of clearance and I think it is more in parallel to the plane of the wheel. Check it:

Also, thanks for reminding me about the O2 sensor. I had to pull pretty hard on it to get enough slack for it to reach, so I'm glad to hear that this is normal and not another sign that I have it on wrong.

You buy a Viper but didn't spring for the Carbon fiber? Tisk Tisk.

Psych. I like the SS look better.

I drilled the hole for the little rivet and clamped it up so it’s a done deal now. All in all I’m pretty happy with the way it fits now. There’s at least one other vid on youtube with that bracket flipped around so I’m not alone.

Ya the O2 sensor is a biotch, I played with it for about 30 min. I think I actually untangled it to get more slack

The real question is, what's your other car? Cause if those are Maryland plates, you clearly have snow...lol.
