What polish for after clear coat?
 

Hello,

I have tried searching and haven't foud a direct answer.

I just finished painting and clear coating my Air Duct covers and know trying to figure out which polish to use for after my 2000 grit wetsand?

I looked at alot of polishes and most say for metal,
Can I use these as my final polish?

So by the looks of it I might have to get a polisher/buffer machine?
Is there anyway to do it without that?
I looked at the turtle wax polishing compound but it said for use on metal, chrome and porcelain so I didn't want to risk it.

If you have a bench grinder you can just get a buffing pad and mount it to it. Buffing wheels aren't cheap. In my experience doing it by hand just doesn't yield the same results.

You'll want to use the rubbing compound (the 3m stuff above) and then a polishing compound, and then, depending on the color, a swirl mark remover (on dark colors)

The first and only paint job I did, I used the synthetic Turtle Wax rubbing compound then synthetic turtle wax polishing compound. I then finished it up with a coat of swirl mark remover even tho it was not needed. I was working on a metallic black, so it would show every little detail. I did it all by hand on the entire bike. It turned out great and looked as if I actually knew what I was doing. Going by hand takes a very long time and you will have to use several coats of each compound and use plenty of elbow grease to rub the compounds in to get a nice shine in the clear. A lot of your final result is in the prepwork too.
