What paint best to paint swingarm?
I currently have a silver screwed up swingarm on my bike now. What I mean by screwed up is I drilled holes for spools and they were in bad spots and also ruined the metal with degreaser. So I just picked up a black swingarm on ebay tonight for 50 bucks shipped. I didnt think that was bad.
I want to repaint it thought before putting it on. I cant afford right now to have it powdercoated so I was wondering what black paint would work best?
Thanks

Shouldn't have to worry about heat affecting paint on the swingarm. I don't think oil will bother it either since it is petroleum based paint. BTW the Krylon I bought is called "Rust Tough Enamel" and the "very" high heat paint is by VHT (1300 - 2000 deg). The only place I used high heat flat black was on my headers and radiator. And yes, any auto parts store should carry what you're looking for. The high heat paint was closer to $10.

I have never painted metal to be used like this...what do you think the life span of the paint job will be? I sorta ruined the heel guards also and want to paint those also. BUT I was thinking if my boots are against them I might as well get them powdercoated. These darn bikes are addictive!!!!!

I too was thinking of painting my heel guards, but it would wear off in no time. Not sure how much longer powder coating would hold up. You might consider getting them bead blasted. They wouldn't be glossy but they would look new. I've seen carbon fiber guards, but they're a little spendy for me.
