what oil and oil filter?

Default what oil and oil filter?

well im changing my stator cover over this weekend and wanna change the oil and filter
what is the best oil and filter to use on the bike?
its a 03 cbr 600 f4i
i was told to use any kind but i wanna know what i can use to get the best out of the bike

or just using the oil u like there shouldnt be a faq for this, its kinda common sense, theres no oil that will give u 30 hp more to the wheels, if u want the "best" then go for exactly what the manufacturer says to put in, which is easily found at the honda shop.

other than that, it really doesnt matter - just dont use one thats energy conserving
Oil filter options- supertech st7317(longer) st6607, fram ph6607 ph7317(longer) (all of these are same as 02 civic ex), Purolator pl14610 pl14612


just use your fav oil, that way u get the placebo effect and think its better

I read somewhere last week that you should never use car engine oil in a motorcycle because motorcycle's have wet clutches car's don't. Car oil will ruin the friction on the clutch over time. Motorcycle oil had special additives in it to protect and lubricate the clutch. I would go to a Honda dealer and get Honda oil. Even though it's a little on the high side, It's still cheaper then a clutch.

^ thats kinda true. u cant use car oils that contain MOLYBENDUM, basically that cant say "energy conserving" -thats what destroys the clutch. it does it quick too, i made that mistake unfortunately. but, pretty much all 10w40 oils dont have that in it so if u stick to the recommended weight u should be good.

the main diff between motorcycle oil and car oil is that motorcycle oil has anti foaming additives, its made to withstand the high revs

Honda filter, HP4 is what I use.

Rotella T synthetic (blue bottle) is a great oil for your bike (as is the regular white bottle 15-40). It's cheap, won't hurt your clutch, and is available at Wal-Mart. I've run it in many of my vehicles including all my bikes.
A lot of people also like to run Mobil 1.

I use purolator filters from advance auto. (as previously mentioned)

I'm probably going to change my oil (among other projects) this weekend... the Purolator PL14610 is longer than the PL14612.. do they usually clear teh header without issue? Mine has a Micron full system.. but it looks like another 3/4 shouldnt be an issue.. is the 612 the 'correct' application for the F4/F4i? I tried Purolator's site and the motorcycle application guide wasnt working..

according to purolater, no
those numbers are cross referenced from other filters, and they will fit and work just fine. i have a longer filter on my bike and it clears the headers just fine, but my headers are stock. i bet the longer ones wuld fit the micron as long as the tubes follow the same general stock pattern-if that makes sense. just so you know - i didnt just pull those numbers out of my head, i have researched this for way too long (a while back) and i have all them saved to a word file on my desktop now.
i forgot to put links to the sites i was getting them from tho
