still have yet to hear a valid point from the high octane users other than "because i feel like it"

 

Manual says 86. Honda's engineers dictated what the manual says. They know more than me, and perhaps 99.9% of the people on this board. Besides that, higher octane gas detonates later and the only impact that it will actually have on my bike it a potential loss of power due to late combustion. I can afford the extra 50 cents per tank if there was any benefit to paying it, but I don't do it because it's pointless.

One of my favorite sayings is "look after the pennies; the dollars take care of themselves."

I put the highest octane in, it costs less than a dollar a fill up...
