What do we classify as?
My old lady came and asked me a question about my bike last night, and I wasn't sure on the answer. Are these bikes classified as sportbikes or sport touring? Looking around at different touring bikes I figured we couldn't be ranked with them.. but we are no RR either.

I'd say definitely as sportbikes. These things were race bikes until the RR came out (03?), and it was only a baby step quicker. Just because they aren't the king-kong race bike today, doesn't make them any slower then they were when they were top of the heap. Just like people incorrectly try and say the ZZR600 is a sport-touring bike when it's just a previous generation ZX6R that was a race winning bike in the early 00's ...
A VFR, Bandit, Katana and MAYBE the FZ6 are sport-touring bikes. The F4i does make a better sport-tourer than a RR though given it's relative comfort. Just my $0.02. |
Supersport, I believe.
The 1000cc+ bikes are considered Superbikes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sportbike |

So that would explain the term super touring bike. Wow learning so much. And I guess I was wrong about a busa.. they are not even touring bikes?

My insurance considers them supersport, and because of that they make me pay out the a$! for coverage.

600's are Super Sports if they have the classic styling ect. R6 F4i 600RR zx-6R are all Super Sport motorcycles.
A busa is sport touring and a pregnant whale |
