I've got an 01 and I'm trying to touch up and repaint a couple areas the previous owner laid it over at slow speed. It looks like this I tried gloss black but it doesn't look shiny enough side by side on the plastic, maybe I need like a high gloss black? I'm hoping it will look ok once the decals come and I can split the area I painted and the old paint. Any tips guys, you think maybe a clear coat over the black will give it more shine. Thanks.

 

Pretty sure its just "black" but just in case...

wow, great site kuro, i have been looking everywhere for the touch up paint for my bike.

 

Yea they don't list the base color for my color code, just list it as "accurate silver metallic" NH146M. I tried a gloss black made for plastic but it was way too dull and when I tried to buff it it just turned to crap. Ended up going back to the store and getting some gloss black engine enamel and clear coat and that combo seems like a pretty close match to stock. Had to paint the whole thing though where I wanted to only do a section and blend it.

I'm regretting buying a few factory decals before I had the cowl painted, I should have just bought the whole set from replicals and had some backups.

 

That gloss is made by the base color and tons of clear to get that deep gloss. Also some wet sansing would help.
