I unplugged the Pair valve and did the whole removal of #4 and reconnected hose #3, didn't really notice anything different. Also installed it with a K&N drop in. Bike is nice and happy to breathe!

"The presence or absence of the Pair Valve does not affect your fuel mileage, power, or general engine running condition. It's purpose is solely to thin out the exhaust mixture so that it will pass all available emission control standards, and this "thinning out" occurs at the exhaust ports *after* the pistons and spark plugs have done their job."

I have removed my Pair valve aka clean air mod. I must say there wasn't much change in performance but just knowing that it saved me some space under the tank and clean air into my airbox is good enough for me.
