what is the thing below the clutch line? and what is supposed to go into it? am i missing anything?

wires are supposed to attach to 2 prongs inside there that go into the clip on pod assembly

I believe it's where the clutch kill switch is supposed to be. Will your bike turn over,
in gear, without the clutch being pulled? My guess is you have a couple of wires
dangling, that are shorted/spliced together. Those belong to the switch, that you are missing.

ya I've got those wires and they are dangling. but my bike runs completely fine.. I'm still confused on what it does.

no my bike doesn't turn over in gear. only in neutral

So even with clutch pulled in it won't turn over? You can only start it with it shifted to neutral? If you replace the switch, you'll be able to park in first and just pull the clutch to start it (without the shift to neutral). That's the only advantage you'll gain.

Not a real deal-breaker, one way or the other, on if it's worth the work. Definetly, don't lose any sleep over it. ;-)

it becomes a problem if you stall at a green light in gear, with cars waiting behind you and you have to tilt up the bike, pop it in nuetral, then start.

Exactly. I was riding around when I noticed that I couldn't start my bike anymore with it in first gear and the clutch depressed. I felt that was weird so I went back home and inspected the bike. Turns out one of those wires came loose so I fixed it and voila! The bike fired up in gear with the clutch pressed.
