Ok, heres the dealio, I took my bike apart in I think it was Jan/Feb to get it painted, I am just now getting it put back together. I put a little gas in it just to fire it up and see if all sounded good. I also replaced the cctl and follwed a guide on how to do it and I think all went smooth. However I am smelling something weird coming from the center of the bike... Almost as though something is burnt? or burning? I smell it most on the right side of the bike right by the coolant reservior, like it's coming from somewhere I can't see maybe. This normal for maybe not having started it in a while? Or should I be worried?? Any info would be great, thanks!

 

Could be a leak in the coolant system, perhaps from a radiator hose or overflow bottle. Take the fairings off & have a look-see at all hose connections in the system.

 

Did you change the oil? If so, some oil from when you changed the filter could have got on the exhaust and it's just burning off--nothing to worry about there. Also some oil may have dripped down from where you changed the CCTL. For a check, start the bike and let it warm up, then see if you can see any oil seeping from the seal around the CCTL...that's where I'd start. Good luck

My bike stunk when I fired it up after sitting. You kinda have to give us an idea what it smells like.

 

My bike developed a coolant leak over the winter. Coolant has a sweet smell to it. Like previously said, Pull the fairings, start it up and look at all hose connections.

 

Did you use any cleaners? Did anything that gets hot get painted?
