Weird front bearings measurements
Hi.
Does anyone have an idea why did Honda produce the ´04-´05-´06 F4i with a special front wheel bearing size??
20x45x12: Special size.
Normally they are 20x42x12 or 20x47x12 (Both are 6204 ZZ C4),... now I can´t find that size anywhere!!!
Oh!.. By the way, I´m from Chile, so I will have to import the bearings.

actually its probably part of Honda's marketing strategy. See this way they make more money. They figure if they make a part no one can just go out and buy, that would prompt the customer to bring the bike into a honda dealer to get it fixed. And usually when new lines of vehicles come out such as the 04-06 models, the aftermarket companies are usually a few years behind in coming out with products for these models. good luck mang.

The front bearings are different. Even the manual says they are the 6204. The actual measurement is 20x45x1. These numbers come directly from Honda. I had this problem and ruined a front wheel trying to pound in the 6204. Expensive mistake!

Chaos.
Do you mean that both front wheel bearings are different between themselves???
I noticed de bearing code 6204 in the manual, but what bearing did you try to install that you messed up the rim?
I thought about getting a 20x42x12 bearing and install it inside a 1,5mm ring. That would give me the 20x45x12 size.
Else, just importing the original ones and wait a week or so.
Thanks

RE: Weird front bearings measurements
The manual is wrong! It is quoting a front bearing size for the 99-00 year F4. The true front bearing size is 20x45x12. Both sides! I ordered what was listed in the book to replace after powder coating and beat the $hit out of it and messed up the races on the front rim. I then rounded up the old bearings and did a cross check with Honda's numbers and this is the size I got from the Honda Service Center at Honda of America!
