Actually, they are not designed to protect your fairing... they are make to protect your frame, thus they are called Frame sliders.. here..

but this side looks good.

exactly...there main purpose is to protect your frame, but you can go down not hard enough to wreck your frame, but plenty hard enough to destroy a fairing...considering most of us will be in the fairing category, most people rate them on how well they protect bodywork...either way, i know vortex do the job and do it well...

i had Vortex on mine and when i hit the deer and it threw me off, my bike slid down the road on its left side. my left slider was DONE....but my fairings have barely any damage. the ONLY damage is right at the top of the fairing just under the airduct covers (see 1st pic in buckd44's post)...but my rashed mark there is smaller than the one in his pics.

haha thanks for rubbing it in. The part that sucks is that I didnt even put the bike on its side, it was a friend of mine. But I have a project underway. I found a fairing for $60 shipped that has a crack at one of the hold holes,I already stripped the decals off, and taking it to a friend to have him fix it and repaint. Going to but the decals without the F4I on, and it should look hot again.

woodcrafts have the puck attached via a screw on the side and not in the normal "through the slider" position. This way when it grinds it down you dont have any problems removing it as you would with the normal type when the delrin is ground down into the bolt head.

I have Vortex. Both brands are probably equally respectable. I got Vortex because I heard so many good things about them. In the end, it probably doesn't matter too much. I would say whichever is cheapest, bro. They'll do the job.

The woodcraft website says 'no hole to distort...' and I'd take them on that chance. My vortex ones definitely distorted, and one of them ripped right off. I would say if there's no hole it might have better resistance to ripping off. Never tried the woodcraft, but they seem better in that sense.
