It shuts on and off when I engage the brakes. Anyone have an idea of what it could be? |
Havent seen that one before, that is pretty bizarre!
I doubt it would just start doing this out of no where though. Both front and rear brake switches run in series to the tailight. Does the tailight then brakes are pressed? Somewhere you have a wire going to the wrong place. This thread should help you solve the issue https://cbrforum.com/forum/f4i-main-...roblem-121322/ :icon_twocents: |
Dam, well aint that ass back words.
You have a ground or a hot wire back words. I'm going to guess a hot wire since its sending power to your gauges. If you did any electrical anytime lately, tripple check that ****. And i don't suggest you keep hitting your brake until you do so. Could burn out something in your gauges |
If I remember correctly the brake light switches run off grounding the light to make it come on. So check for a loose ground.

Well Im repairing the bike now. I bought it wrecked so theres no telling. The rear brake lights are disconnected ATM. The only type of electrical I can say ive done is that I got a new headlight wiring harness (the old one was burnt to a crisp) and I got some brand new projectors. other than that nothing out of the ordinary....oh when I bought it I took the main harness off...sooo i might have connected a wrong ground? or hot? I havent checked the fuses yet, but ill do that tomorrow. Thanks for helping you guys.

Here's my thought: the ECM or gauge cluster is not properly grounded, and when the brakes are engaged, (connects the taillights to ground) the ECM/cluster is using that ground, completing the circuit.
I'm not familiar with the wiring on the F4i, haven't had to look at it much but that's my take on it. Kyle |
Well, my first thought of the faulty ground was the rear brake lights being off, and the wires touching metal, but I wired them up today and there's is still no power. Might I also add that this is an occasional thing, so when it finally happened the other day I video taped it.

Did it do it before you installed those new Halo cctl lights?

def looks like a grounding issue. check all your grounds, something is loose.
