Valve adjustments and fork re-valving? How important?
 

Hey guys, I've got an '04 F4i that I've stopped riding on the street and I want to ride track only. I've done 3 track days on it. It's got around 14,400 miles on it or so. I haven't re-valved the shocks or checked the valves. My question is, can I get away with another year without doing this if the shocks aren't leaking and the motor is running alright?

I want to try to get a track only RR sometime next year so I really don't want to put anymore money in my F4i than I have to but I still plan on doing several more track events with the F4i beforehand.

IMO, I think I'll be fine but I wanted to see what other opinions are.

Yeah, I think you'll be OK. Scheduled valve clearance isn't till 16K; by the book. My bike's got 18K and it runs fine, although before next season I'll be cheking/adjusting the valves, throttle body sync, and the left fork is showing signs of fluid getting past the seal.

Having never done a valve check I don't know how hard it would it be but now would be the time to learn. It's a maintenance item that all bikes have. Shock work, if it aint broke don't fix it!

14,400 miles its just broke in good, valves should be good, dont think their scheduled check was until 16k n most didnt require any adjustment then.

The fork revalving would depend on you. Def change the fork oil. Revalving the forks would work better esp for the track but a necessity I think not since you will be replacing er anyhow.

You'll be fine. Re-valving is just to help you. The valve adjustment isen't something you can skip but you can push it off [like 32,000 miles off in my case :)]
