Im looking at picking up a 2002 f4i, kbb has 5300ish, but used bike dealer wants 6k for 2002's with 15k miles, i told them if they can let one go for 5k to give me a call.

Is 5k a good price for a 02 with 15k miles, with exhaust?

I live in Green Bay, and not a lot of private sales for bikes.

$5300 is a fair price. Keep in mind that the dealer may try and charge a "Reconditioning Fee", which usually is somewhere around $500-$700. This fee is BS, as that cost is included in the KBB price. The muffler adds a couple hundred and the lower milage adds a couple more over KBB.

I was looking at a 2003 F4i from a dealership. They wanted $7300, and would't budge on the price. Even after I pointed out that the "other" dealership was selling 05 F4i's brand new for $7400. They told me that the demand for motorcycles in socal was very high and bikes retained their value very well. While there is some truth to that, it was more than I could stand to listen to that crap. I ended up buying a 01 F4i with 4000 miles from a private party for $5300. And I'm sure some would say I paid too much.

If you need to buy a helmet and jacket, offering to buy them from the dealer will give you more bargining power on the price of the bike. You should be able to knock some percentage off the helmet and jacket, while also getting a better price on the bike.

 

I just got my 02' F4i with 11K miles on it for 4850 from a private seller. 6K is way too much.

 

I would agree that $5,300 would be a good price. I got my 02 F4i in Feb with 10k miles and paid $5575. That was from a dealer, if I went for a private sale I was going to spend $4750-$5000.... with a jacket and helmet ect. This was in N CAL, so I'm sure in Green Bay it would be the same or slightly lower. 6K is WAY too much! Keep looking, you will find something.

 

I just got my 02' F4i with 15K miles on it for 4000 from a private seller with extened warranty till April of 2007. With tons of mods Keep looking or check ebay for someone close to you. You never know someone in your state or one over might have one up for sale
