Default Turn signals don't always work

basically the title says it all. I've never really had issues with my turn signals. Recently i went on a longer ride (150+ miles), and noticed something odd with my turn signals. I don't know if this is symptomatic of a bad relay, but after a while when i press left it just holds it on my gauge cluster, but nothing happens on my actual turn signals. On and off it would work. Sometimes i use turn signal all is good, other times not. When i reached my destination, turned bike on and off, it seemed to be fine. On my way back after about 20 min, it started to act up again. Any clue? maybe some wires touching, anyone experience this?

I had similar symptoms. Turned out to be grime inside the switch itself. I cleaned up the inside of the switch with some brake clean then some fresh dielectric grease and it's been working like new.
