Turn signal issues

I'm having a little issue with my turn signals. Sometimes they work without any issues, and all is well, but then sometimes it feels like the contact is bad.

Example:

I'll turn my left turn signal on, and instead my speedometer kind of dims down for a second and the turn signal doesn't really come on.

Also i'll try and use my right turn signal and on my speedometer it'll just light up, but not actually do anything, almost like it's stuck and thinking.

I'm hoping it's just the handlebar switch control, but i'm welcome to suggestions. Any thoughts?

Stock signals?

The right side makes me think you need a new turn signal relay. You can find them for about $10 at a car parts store.

The left one has me confused, but it could be related to the relay. Sounds like it could be a poor connection, but odd that the gauges dim.

Oh, it could also be your rectifier going out and this is an early warning sign. So check the voltage going to the battery with the bike at idle.

They're aftermarket flushmount turning signals, bought the bike two years ago without turn signals, but i didn't care, just recently i've decided to put them on. Could you please elaborate on what i should be testing with the multimeter? What's this relay located? Do you have part number? Thanks!

Did this only become an issue after installing the new flush-mounts?

If so I would re-check the hook-ups to verify correctly wired and/or
bad connection.

If this is the only symptom, I wouldn't think it was the r/r.
Sounds like a crossed wire is creating the issue.
Re-check the hook-ups first, if that doesn't do the trick, get back and
we can go from there.

Good luck, Ern

I've been tracking the bike lately, so i haven't been using the turn signals recently, but i do recall the bike had this issue even before turn signal installation. I personally thought it was the switch, that switch always has been a pain in my ass. Might crack it open and clean it out internally and lubricate it properly. thoughts?
