if it's the sensor that measures electric signals from the sensors in the ground (you'll see like a octagon shape), then what I do is light up next to the line on the left, put my stand down so that it is right on the line and rev a little.

works all the time... for me.

I asked that question in MSF and my instructor told me that its legal to go thru the red light (when its safe and if its safe) if the light doesn't switch.

Something to do with a malfunctioning traffic light. I'd check with your town/state though, i know here in MA its legal for motorcycles/cars to do this if the light doesn't change
Huh...I never really thought that this was such a wide spread problem. There's one light in town that does that to me and when I found it, I just ran it after waiting forever. Now I just avoid it.

I almost had to drag a newbie by the short hairs to run a light one night about 11:00 PM. He was terrified it was a trap set by the cops to give tickets. I had to explain 3 times how the sensors worked and threatin to leave his *** there all night before he believed me.

yeah. after i learned which lights in my town had the underground sensors, i figured a different route to and from work. I'll only go to the underground sensor lights if there is a car in front of me or behind me. sometime they turn though.... bastards.

thats a good idea...although if you get pulled over for that and you explain it to the cop...im sure s/he will understand and let you go because you did that in place of running the red light

but ya, i usually just hit my starter a couple times...revv my engine...stomp with my feet, rock and push down onthe bike, put the kick stand down, turn my signals on and off, flash my lights..if none of that works, ill just run it if its safe

anyone know of the legality ofdoing that in CT?

It's too hot to do all of those rituals. I just run it.
Or do the loopty-loo (right turn+U-turn).
