Tires - BT016 vs Pilot Road 2CT
#11
Good point woot! I think it wouldn't your confidence knowing you had some premium rubber between yourself and the ground. I've noticed even having good gear can make me more confident, and it improved my riding because of it.
But the truth is, there isn't a tire out there that I can get the full potential from, I would just like knowing I have the "best" option out there lol

Thanks for the feedback so far. At this point I'm leaning toward the PR 2CT for the mileage. I read a post elsewhere (on an R1 forum?) that the PR's were a little sluggish on turn-in, but that might be specific to the bike or the tire size. Did you notice any problems with that on your track day, woot? I'm thinking about maybe getting a Pilot Power for the front and PR CT2 for the rear, maybe that would be better handling / mileage balance?

No thats not what I meant. The reg PP and the PP2CT's have the same center(from my sources) the 2CT's have a softer side wall. The Roads have a harder center and the Road2CT's have the same center as the reg Roads with a softer sidewall, the sidewall of the reg PP or PP2CT's I'm not sure of tho. The Roads also have a rounder profile than the PP's and PP2CT's so they dont give that same feeling of the tires just wanting to be leaned. Still a good tire and they do get their mileage out. With the Road2CT's tho you still get a bit more confidence in the twisties from the softer sidewalls tho. But I have seen ppl who sled Roads in a couple thousand miles too lol. All depends on how one rides.

I've had both, the first set were PP2CT and the second set were the BT016, which I got off craigslist new for $200. To tell you the truth, I have never felt a difference between the two. Now, we have guys here that can really tell you about lean angles and compound percentages, but what it really comes down to is that they are both excellent tires. If you are not taking it to the track, but like to tear up twisties, both will be fine; and if budget is what concerns you, go for the BT016. I love 'em.

Dunno what your friends doing to his, I ride mine decently hard, have a few thousand on them already and am seeing minimal wear. For the price difference your friend can damn near afford two sets of bt-016's for one sec of pp2cts, and there is no performance difference. Both are multi-compound and sticky as all hell. If your talking about pilot road 2ct's, well of course your's will last longer, its a cruiser tire, not sport.
