Good point woot! I think it wouldn't your confidence knowing you had some premium rubber between yourself and the ground. I've noticed even having good gear can make me more confident, and it improved my riding because of it.
But the truth is, there isn't a tire out there that I can get the full potential from, I would just like knowing I have the "best" option out there lol

Here is what one 15 minute session in light rain did to a almost fresh set of tires:

We all doubt our tires too much - when they are warm, they will stick like glue so long as you are smooth.

Thanks for the feedback so far. At this point I'm leaning toward the PR 2CT for the mileage. I read a post elsewhere (on an R1 forum?) that the PR's were a little sluggish on turn-in, but that might be specific to the bike or the tire size. Did you notice any problems with that on your track day, woot? I'm thinking about maybe getting a Pilot Power for the front and PR CT2 for the rear, maybe that would be better handling / mileage balance?

I didn't notice it at all on the track... felt just fine to me. Nice and stable. It could have been the tire size... 190s are a bit rider and depending on the brand, flatter

I don't think you can go wrong

The Roads also have a rounder profile than the PP's and PP2CT's so they dont give that same feeling of the tires just wanting to be leaned. Still a good tire and they do get their mileage out. With the Road2CT's tho you still get a bit more confidence in the twisties from the softer sidewalls tho. But I have seen ppl who sled Roads in a couple thousand miles too lol. All depends on how one rides.
Ah, gotcha. Back to OP I think the Pilot Road 2CT's would be your best bet. I agree with others that there is no need for something stickier on the street. If you want to ride track though I would get something stickier. And yes, my regular Pilot Roads were slower to turn in than my Power 2CT's but that doesn't mean they aren't a good tire.

The bto-16's melt away quickly. My 2ct rear is at 7000miles and not squared and my front is around 9000 and almost out. My friend running the 016's has been through 3 sets to my one.

I've had both, the first set were PP2CT and the second set were the BT016, which I got off craigslist new for $200. To tell you the truth, I have never felt a difference between the two. Now, we have guys here that can really tell you about lean angles and compound percentages, but what it really comes down to is that they are both excellent tires. If you are not taking it to the track, but like to tear up twisties, both will be fine; and if budget is what concerns you, go for the BT016. I love 'em.
