I've had to use a screwdriver thru the filter once from the previous owner, check out my post from another thread with the same issue.

im doing my 1st oil change on the bike tomorrow. I will take these suggestions in mind. how the heck do people do it without taking off the fairings? how you twist off filter through the exhaust pipes?

^Did you read the thread? Or just post? Wrench, screwdrivers, plenty of options. And there are plenty of jars in the world. But I prefer to think I'm a ninja, that way, when I catch the oil from the filter, I feel badass......

Just kidding.

I did read the thread but the methods posted I assumed were with fairing off. I haven't got a close look at it yet but I find it hard to fit a filter wrench with just turning the wheel all the way. I will find out tomorrow.

That's what I just threw on mine this past oil change, and it looks like cake to get off.

blkmz3, your best bet is take the fairing off. You have great access to the filter, and you don't have to worry about the tire in the way, and taking it off takes like 5 minutes tops.

pull off left leg fairing. allen key and screwdriver is all it takes. the exhaust is split between the 2 runners with enough room for the oil filter to be removed.

if you cant take off the filter with your hand then use a tool. but for the near future only put your filter on hand tight and remove it by hand, you shouldnt need a tool or ur just weak (no offence), then after. dont forget to lube up the rubber gasket on the filter.

did my 1st oil change on the bike. oil pan i bought was way too high so i had to go get a lower one. the filter wouldnt budge i got a pretty strong arm but previous owner may have put it on real tight. had to get a wrench and it came off easily. did the foil trick and had not 1 drop get on the headers. i may have filled it little past 3.5 qts though. i had to squat down while holding the bike with 1 hand straight and look real quick at the level.
