Time for a new paint job.

Tearing down my bike this week and replacing the cctl. Figured while I'm at it might as well go with a new paint job too. Ordered the crimson red crazer paint from alsa today. Hope it turns out crazy. I'm pretty excited and I'll post pics when I'm finished.

Are you painting yourself?
i was thinking about doing this, just replaced spark plugs, cctl, and air filter and had the plastics off and would like a new paint job, i just dont think i would be able to do it myself, unless its not that hard, or there is a write up that says how.

if youre having someone do it do you know roughly how much it costs? or anyone else who has had someone paint it for them, how much is it? i would take it apart, sand, etc. myself

Me and my dad are going to do it. I emailed alsa and asked them what the process is. Said it's relatively easy. You just paint a base coat then paint the crazer on then wrap in cling wrap to get the textured look.

Painting really isn't that bad.

I would paint smaller objects to get the hang of it.

You need:

Air compressor
Adjustable Pressure regulator for gun
Water/Oil catcher for gun
Mineral Water
Lacquer thinner
Base paint (With Activator/Reducer)
Clear coat (With Activator)
200\400\600 grit sand paper
Tack rag
Primer (This is where you use Lacquer thinner 1:1 mixing ratio)

There may be more im missing.

Process:
Remove decals (Heat gun method works good)
Sand everything you plan to paint with 200 grit
Tack rag it.
Primer it (1-2 thick coats)
Sand that with 400 grit. (May use 600 as well)
Wipe it down with mineral water and tack rag it.
Spray your base coat. (2-3 coats)
Clear coat (3-4 coats)
Let dry.
Wet sand the clear lightly with 1500 grit.
Buff with 3m rubbing compound.
Put whatever decals on.

Enjoy new paint job.

nrmskate's process sounds just right.

I checked their website, and that color is sweet. Post up some pics when you finish.
