RE: are these legal? help me out
dont see why not i see intergrated tail lights all over the place...You might have to check with your local police dept cause i have heard some people state they get pulled over because they dont notice rear turnsignals some times.
|
RE: are these legal? help me out
It shouldbe fine, ugly as hell imo... grab an undertail
|
RE: are these legal? help me out
i agree undertails are much better just wanted to save some money for now
|
RE: are these legal? help me out
Cars have had integrated signals until just the past 10 years or so. There isn't any reason they wouldn't be legal.
|
RE: are these legal? help me out
just had to ask cause i remember awhile ago a few people were saying they got pulled over for such but oh well i have decided to get an undertail instead so give me your opinions on what i should get!
|
RE: are these legal? help me out
man i LOVE my integrated tail looks diffrent and i hate how the only other option really is circle break lights..
they are not "legal" but neither is the undertail that you are thinking about buying either it's not DOT aproved but a) you dont need turnsignals *atleast not here in texas* to pass inspection and b) the guy doing the inspection dosent know if they are dot aproved / stock / whatever *Edit* oh yeah and the turn signals on these are WAY brighter then 90% of other aftermarkets |
RE: are these legal? help me out
most states in the US consider the intergrated lights to be ILLEGAL. some states require 4 inches, other states (like NY) require 6 inches clearance from the fender to the signal indicator.
i was pulled over twice for that crap; they did not give me a ticket but they told me to fix it. bottom line is that they are illegal but cops dont pay much attention to it. |
RE: are these legal? help me out
for the correct answer check with your local law enforcement agency. they are the only ones who can tell you for sure. i would say no they are not legal. my brother here in cali got written up for having a integrated tailight . turn indicators have to be 9" apart from the center of the plate (but thats here in ca)

RE: are these legal? help me out
I have one. No problems. IMO, the undertails look like ass.
|
RE: are these legal? help me out
California is 9 inches between rear signals FYI
|
RE: are these legal? help me out
How do people on choppers and other bikes not equipped with them get away with it in California. Do they have to install aftermarket or is it grandfathered into the age on older models. Here in Indiana I see it all the time. On the other hand we don't have vehicle inspections either. I was under the impression hand signals were enough.
|
RE: are these legal? help me out
Hand signals are never enough because most people dont know what the hell is going on when they see hand movements on a bike. Im just speakign for D.C metro area you can try the hand signals here and you still arent goign to get over unless you drive up the middle. i have the inspection here and one of the guys i ride with have an intergrated light he has been pulled over before but it wasnt for that. Its prob an issue where if you doing something illegal or how the cop is feeling that day wheter or not they will give you that ticket also. Just check the local pd like adviesed earlier and you should be good. As for the question about being grandfatherd because i dont see all those riders getting aftemarket lights for those cruisers just not possible or its cruiser/sport bike specific.

RE: are these legal? help me out
Its going to depend on your state, I know in Mass that would be illegal because of the clear lens(dont ask me why because I have no clue)
|
RE: are these legal? help me out
My bro.'s in LAPDand he said it was coo. I have it on my bike.
|
RE: are these legal? help me out
You really do have to check your state law, it all depends on where you live (or ride). alekinci was right...here in NY they would TECHNICALLY be illegal, but mostcops don't know the regulations on little stuff like that, they're more concerned with properly displayed plates and registration stickers...trust me, I'm one of them.
