i run 92... my bikes goes up to 240 a lot during sunny days in traffic. something wrong with my bike or is this natural?
i would suggest you start using like 89 or 87. 240 is a lot. i have never went over 227. a mechanic told me once when i was low on coolant to fill it up and to keep in mind that if i go into 245 i should pull over and let the bike cool because i can cause serious damage. not sure if thats true, but i would say that you are running hot. you might have more anti-freeze than water in your tank, i would drop some "water wetter".

I live in Las Vegas, NV. My bike runs at 180 on the highway. However, when I commute on it in the city (4-5 times a week) it'll reach 225 and that is when my fan turns on. If you're stopped at a stoplight and your temp gets into the 230s: Turn off the ignition, then turn the key back to the "on" position so the fan will continue working with the engine off. When that signal light turns green-turn the bike back on.This is a fail proof way to keep your bike cooler in the warmer weather.

Also, I heard about adding an extra blade to the fan??? I'm going to try it later this summer to see if it makes a difference.

^^ not the best idea... you can just press the kill switch and let the fans always be on until you reach 224. after the fans stop then just press ignition.... its not the best thing to turn off your ignition/lights at night on a red light.
try the water wetter

i thought that i read in a manual maybe the service or owners that if you see 235 you should pull over...

One of my spring projects is to wire in a button so that i can turn the fan on at long lights so the bike doesnt get very hot...havent decided if i am going to use a toggle or borrow the horn button for this....

Well, turning the switch off to on takes me like 0.05 seconds. I don't know how slow you are...
