You actually LOSE strength with the 520, but I agree with your opinion on the performance aspect.

What is the stock chain on the bike. Also, if you geared for more torque and a lower gear ratio (like smaller front and larger back) you would lower the top speed but you would get there quicker right? If the top speed was reduced to say 130 (for argument's sake) it would get there faster than stock gearing correct?

in theory but not practice. if you were to drag that bike(i assume thats what you mean) you would actually gain on your time because it would become necissary to use more gears and eat up more time shifting. say a stock bike goes through 3rd (im guessing i havent dragged my f4i) you would prob go through 5th. that means 2 more shifts and more time. but in the other extreme to long a gear ratio means you wont have the power to pull the bike as fast. thats why those guys spend so much time on the track/dyno figuring this stuff out. on the street my friends f4i with the wheelie gears will get a jump on me at the light but i pass him in second.

Not to jack this thread but didnt want to start a new one if you guy had the answer. I dont want to mess with sprockets and mess with a speedo health. I want to replace my chain but was thinking if there was a kit made to replace the sprockets with a little nicer then stock maybe lighter and a good new chain....anyone know where you can find a kit for stock teeth for a decent price?

Thanks so much all

.....Ebay. Just get a 520 kit with stock teeth. It will be made of aluminum therefore lighter but will wear out quicker (so they say).

Just ebay search for "f4i chain sprocket"

This guy sells 520 kits in custom sprocket sizes and is the cheapest price on ebay.

BUT.... if you were ever considering more acceleration now is the time to do it. The only reason to stay with stock sizes are if your doing alot of commuting. Even a -1 front sprocket will make the bike more enjoyable and only change the speedo by 2-3mph. well worth it IMO,

Personally i have not bought from him but when i get some extra "f4i cash" this will the the kit i'll get. His feedback rating on chain/sprocket kits is excellent and he guarantees to price match any online seller.

and no i don't know him lol.
