Thats a great idea! My wife might not like it when she goes to play her guitar, but I'm sure not f-ing up her bike will be more important.

Uh, Stop and think about what you are about to do!! Poke a iron rod into a metal GAS tank! If you create a spark, with the exposed vapor in the top of the tank, Boom/Flames!! I had a similar issue, used hvy-duty weed trimmer line. Just be sure and use a ground before you start monkeying around with gasoline, due to static electricity. Or drain the tank, let it dry, and THEN muck around with it. I'm going to assume everyone else was assuming you wuold drain and dry the tank before they were advising you to poke a coat hanger in the vent hole. ;-)

Mad you worry too much. I'm a mechanic and wouldn't think twice about that. You'd be better off blowing it out with compressed air though. Either way it won't catch on fire. Lol

Hey thanks for the replies.

I used a guitar cord, weedwacker wasn't strong enough. and got about 10 inches into the tank and it just stopped. Not sure if its a turn or clog. Anyone have a diagram or can draw it on a cocktail napkin and scan it of what the layout is of this tube so I have an idea if i'm hitting a clog or bend?

The tank has a couple of bends in it. I think , without looking. One on top and one on the bottom.

But I think a Guitar String or thin Piano wire should do the trick. Id push from the bottom to the top though. If something is stuck in the pipe. You don't want to wedge it worse.

Thank you! Good call, 50psi did the trick. Blew out rust and some nasty goop.

I used the hose and put my compressed air through it that way. Worked good.

just make sure you cover the gas hole.. I got black goop all the way up to the roof!
