I don't have that exact problem, but the crack i did have on my tail, and other fairings,i used fiberglass to fix and its still going strong. The "plastic weld" i used on other portions did not hold up as well, except the portion i used as a filler. Just use a couple layers of fiberglass to give it more support. And make sure the surface is scuffed well too (but you probably know that). Good luck... you can see my repairs on the thread in my signature too.

EDIT:I forgot to add that someone posted their repairs in my repair threadand useda company based in Canada, which uses a mixture ofstuff to create a plastic repair, which i guess bonded great. Here is the link to that site...http://www.plastex.ca/kits-usa.asp. Hopefully this helps you.

it's called the infamous crotch crack.
what you need to do is replace the sponge that's back there with thicker material sothat it gets support by being wedged up against the tank. otherwise, any type of repair won't help.

i used abs plastic on mines and it held up fine, but only after i replaced the sponge material underneath to give it some support from my mightly crotch muscles squeezing on the tank.

you know that was my first thought when i looked at it...to somehow brace it against the subframe....i realized that is how it was cracking...my mighty thunder thighs that is...!!!

damnit...luckly it hasn't cracked all the way through on mine...it's just start, it can only be seen on the outside...i'll have it fixed during paint!

I know exactly what your saying, i had all my fairings in my apartment while i was fixing them/painting them last semester... and it was getting to me when my bike was home and i was stuck here with my fairings taunting me.

But i think it makes sense about the foam in the back of the tail side... And goodluck to you guys that are having this problem. Ill keep the foam in mind if mine ever starts cracking in the same place.
