Tach not working

My tach on my 01 F4i is not working. When I turn the key on the needle will move over the entire range but when I hit the throttle theres no response. Has anyone else had this problem? Any fixes? Thanks

Throttle position sensor perhaps? Did you try to read the code?

what do you mean read the code? where is that sensor? Sorry im not too good w electrical stuff. Motors i can do but electrical components im still working on haha

The FI light will blink. The # of blinks can tell you whats wrong.

The TPS is located,,,,*drummmrollllll* on the right side of the throttle bodies...:icon_playing:

I was going to say "in your muffler" or something but didn't want to be rash. lol

This thread say's it could either be the yellow w/ green stripe wire behind the cluster or bad ECU

Ok I'll check it out when I get home. How will I know if it is that sensor? Just based on the # of flashes? And if the FI light doesnt flash can I rule that out as the problem?

No, you can't rule it out, but if the code indicates that is the problem, I would be inclined to believe it. Inspect and clean the connections, it could be as simple as a bit of oxidation from sitting over winter.

If you download the repair/owners manual it may help you out with everything.
