Stripped spark plug hole
Well guys, went to change my plugs today and can't get #3 to tighten, my dad is working on it as we speak. If it won't tighten though, what are my options? Please help

Heli-coil. That's what they're made to do. Go to your local auto store
and ask for a heli-coil kit. It's basically like a spring that winds into your hole after your do a small ream on it. HeliCoil Corporation Good luck on that, Ern |
Get a grade 8 bolt, the goldish one and get it lined up and try to re tap it. It will clean it up. It's much harder than the engine block.
|
So I'm not totally screwed?

MadHattr059's advice is spot-on.

Not at all, the helio coil will work, just if you have a grade 8 bolt laying around it might do the trick.
|
I don't have either. What all would the coil consist of me doing
|
Heli-Coil is very simple to use, it comes with its own tap/reamer and crank, all you do is turn it in usually you go 1 turn forward half turn backwards and repeat, then theres a heli-coil install tool which threads it in and it threads off but the coil stays in place, its the best solution to stripping you can do

Nobody is mentioning that if you do this with the head on the block then you get metal shavings in the cylinder.
