Stock sprockets??

Stock sprockets??
Hey Guys,
What size are stock sprockets?? I went to the big track at Willow and I was always in 2nd, 3rd, 4th. I would hit 5th every once in a while at the end of the main straight, but only for a sec. I am not AMA fast, but still I feel like I should be using all my gears on the fastest track on the west coast. I have 46 rear and 16 front. Is that stock? Should I go to 48-15?? The interesting thing is, even with that gearing, I out accelerate my friend on his ZX-6RR. Anyway, some help would be nice!

RE: Stock sprockets??
Yes, 16/46 is stock. The key to gearing is changing the gears so that at the longest stretch of track you are topping out in 6th gear and no more. many people run -1/+2 (15/48). However, that may not be ideal for the track you are at... its not cheap but ideally you would want a couple different sprocket sets to play around with to find the best set-up for the track you are at. If you don't want to deal with all the testing here's what most would recommend. Start out by just changing out one sprocket, either -1 in the front or +2 in the rear. see how that goes. If you still feel you need more then swap out the other sprocket. Good luck!
