Stator Cover Replacement

Hey all,

My f4i recently got knocked over in the garage, and I found out my stator cover cracked and leaked all the oil.

I have another cover on the way and I plan on using this Alternator (Stator) Cover Replacement - Honda Motorcycles - FireBlades.org DIY to guide my install.

Just wanted to know if there is anything missing from that DIY and if there is any advice I could get from someone who has done this before.

Also, as I was taking my fairings off, one of my vacuum hose (I think that's what it is) fell off. It's the largest one of the three that were protruding from the bottom of the fairings. Does anyone know where that goes?

Thanks

Make sure you get oem replacement stator cover....the cheap ebay ones usually have something wrong with them

Like Kaz said make sure it is OEM so it fits properly. If it doesn't then you will have leaks. I changed my stator cover and that is a pretty darn good write up. It is really not all that difficult. Flow it and you should be set.

I ordered the cover from a Honda dealer here along with the gasket and dowel, so I should be good on that end.

Did you use sealant on the cover before installing? The DIY mentioned some sort of sealant to use.

I just used the gasket on mine and all is well. I think u can throw some sealant where that connector goes through but other than that i wouldnt add any anywhere else.

when i did mine i didnt use a gasket just got some good reusable silicone ( some blue stuff that was recomended from auto parts store) worked great no leaks. Its only been 6 months but no problems yet. The best part about it is you can take off the cover clean off the oil and not have to add any more as long as there is some on there. A guy told me it will even seal with oil on it but i didnt want to find out.

Sweet. Thanks for the responses guys.

I'm finally getting my stator cover tomorrow so I'll update after the install.

Update: Everything went really well. Was a lot easier than I thought - especially because a friend came over with a lot of tools.
