Default Stator Cover?

I think its called the stator cover... The round piece that sticks out of the fairing on the left/clutch side of the bike. If not then correct me. What is behind this. I just ordered a new one that is being powdercoated and polished, and i need to know if this is something that i can switch out fairly easy, or if i should take it to a dealer. Is there anything i should know or watch for when replacing this?

Yes, it's the stator cover and yes, you can do it yourself. You should buy a manual for the bike. I have a 02 f4i too. The manual has helped me a lot of mods, repairs, etc. You can get one for like $15 or cheaper on ebay. I have the Hanes manual.

it's super easy. Just make sure when you replace it you use either a new gasket or the sealent gel. It's super easy

+1 on the manual I bought the Clymer version and it is so handy. Make sure you have a new gasket for it

I didnt know they had haynes for motorcycles...makes sense i guess. I'll definitely pick one up. Does anyone know how much the gasket costs. I saw i could get it for eight dollars on ebay, but i figured it couldnt be too much more for one at a dealer.

One more question: Whats behind/inside the cover. Is it something that is going to leak fluid when i take the cover off or is it more of just a protective casing?

yeah.. the stator is behind the stator cover . O yeah oil does leak out so get a drip pan ready and make sure you have a little extra oil sitting around to top it back off. Invest in a Clymer's manual.. extremelly helpful... everyone should have one of these... and you need a new gasket too

Just download a Honda factory service manual for the F4i off the net.
There's good instructions on how to change the stator cover.

Just do a search on the forum. You'll find it
