stability question for '02 f4i

I just purchased an '02 f4i and noticed when I ride it has a slight, just a hint of a wobble or what *feels* like a wobble to me. I checked the chain and axle. The bike has been safety inspected, and installed with 2 dunlop qualifiers. I also test rode another f4i '02 which had the same wobble feel, so ive ridden more than one. now i dont know if its because im just not yet used to the new bike because i rode a solid, straight as a rail, steel f3 or theres something that needs to be checked out on the f4i. any ideas?

I've never heard anyone say that there was any less stability in the F4i vs. the F3...I always figured that there was enough heredity between the 2 bikes that they would be fairly similar.

My guess is that there is something not quite right with those two that you rode. There's certainly no wobble in my '05.

yeah thats what i thought too. the later the model, the better the technology for stability. ill probably have the suspension tuned professionally see if that helps. the bike i got is red and black and the other i rode was at a honda dealership.

Could be anything from bad balance on tires, to worn steering stem bearings. Not something that can be diagnosed over the web.

I can tell you that my F4i has NO wobble whasoever.

No wobble here either. Be sure you're not resting your weight on the handlebars. That will introduce headshake.

ok, it tracks straight, then has a slight pull to the right that i feel, not wobble. ill get the chain and rear axle alignment doublechecked.

I had a pull to the left that turned out to be bent forks.

could be a bad front tire

if it's not mechanical as the others have mentioned, it might be the road you are riding on... here in ky, some of the roads are old so they have a crest down the center. depending on where you are positioned on that road, it may make your wheel wobble slightly...

Make sure you're suspension is set up equally left and right. Mine wasn't when I got my bike (used) and it felt weird as well so (when I noticed) I set it up equally left and right and adjusted the rear problem solved. This is the second bike in a row I've bought where the previous owner had the front set up unequally. [sm=WTFsgign.gif]
