sprockets and chain questions
I need to replace my sprocket and chain, since I need to replace it anyways im going to change them up to get a little more torque off the line and reduce my top.
Is this what I am looking for?: http://www.sumofallparts.net/product...d-7b488b6cffb9 basically this is -1 in the front and +2 in the rear plus a XSO chain. Also has anyone bought from this company before? Also I don't know much about chains, is the XSO chain a decent chain? EDIT: I found some reviews on them, some good, some bad but nothing recent most of it was in 07 and 08 |
The only company I've dealt with in terms of sprockets and chains is www.sprocketcenter.com and they're great. I called them up and the guy was more than willing to answer some of my questions and he was very nice.
As for what you're looking for... -1/+2 is quite a big jump from stock. Maybe you should try just -1front OR +2rear first. The problem is that when you change the gearing that much your highway cruising is going to put your RPM's pretty high. That kit you showed was also a 520 conversion. I would probably just stick with stock 525 because 520 doesn't really yeild any noticable performance increase and it wears out faster. + there is plenty of information about this stuff laying around here on the forums. search it up. |
when you say big jump are you talking how much more "get up and go" so to say it will have from a stop? Also I have been searching this quite a bit and it looks like a pretty common mod.
say I get the 520 chain now can I upgrade later on to the 525 chain or would I need to get new sprockets for the 525? This seems to be the place that gets the best reviews and has the most choices http://www.indysuperbike.com/custome...ductid=1000000 Also how much faster does the 520 wear out? |
Must run 520 sprockets and 520 chain or 525 sprockets and 525 chain - cannot interchange.
I recommend the SuperSprox rear sprocket. Quality of the front sprocket doesn't really differ, just find something at the price you want to pay. |
If I go with the SuperSprox I can stick with the 525 chain and still go up +2 and still gain torque?
at this site I can choose the size: http://www.motoworldonline.com/Super...41_p_3622.html So if I got that this chain would work because it is a 525 chain correct? http://www.motoworldonline.com/EK-MV...ns_p_2281.html Also I can mix sprockets correct? for example a 525 rear supersprox +2 with the 525 chain in the link above above and the stock front sprocket? |
I did the -1/+2 conversion and it was worth it. Love the change definitely quicker def recommend if you dont mind the high rpms on the highway

You can mix brands and stuff...Just make sure you get all 525 or all 520....chain, front and back
