Sprocket & chain kit
 

So i need a new chain and i mine as well get new sprockets.

I'm mechanically inclined, but still new to the ins and outs of a motorcycle.

Just wanting to check and make sure this is everything I need?

It's steel sprockets, 520 chain, -1 in the front (wish i could choose +2 in the rear), and a good price haha

I will need to get a riveting tool correct??

Yeah, that's a good chain/kit, I like RK. Those kits come with the chain, front & rear sprocket, and the master link. The master link with those kits is a rivet style, so yes, you will need a rivet tool. Don't get a press tool, those will not work.

Installation is pretty straight-forward, if you're the least little bit mechanically inclined then you'll have no problem. Just one bit of advice in case you have never installed this type of link. Just turn the tool a little at a time, back it off to look at pin, and continue process until the pin looks correct. If you over-do it you will crack the pin.

Almost forgot. In case you have never removed/installed a chain. Put the tranny in neutral and use the rear brake while braking loose the bolt for the front sprocket. Obviously this will be done before removing the chain.

Yes, you will need a chain tool, unless you cut the old chain off and use a clip-on materlink which is what I like to do. Also, make sure you loosen the front sprocket nut BEFORE you take the chain off... :icon_doh:

I really like it. Got to choose the color of the chain and it was -1 front and +2 rear. Came with the clip master link. Its a couple bucks more but I am very happy with it.

I had a -1 up front before I bought this one. The +2 in the back was a great addition. No complaints in the bikes acceleration at all.

I use the Stockton Tool Company Chain Breaker & Rivet Tool Kit from CycleGear for my needs & its proven to be robust & reliable.

Same here, very nice kit and seems to be high quality, works really well. Looks just like the Motion Pro kit except the case is red instead of blue. Matter of fact I was told that they're made in at the same place, not sure if that's true. I gave $89 for mine, well worth the price if you're like me and do all of your own work (price will vary depending on your location I suppose). They have like 97 stores, but IN. is one of the few states they're not in, you could order from them if you find nothing you like in any of your local shops.

Yea I was actually watching that tutorial the other day to see what I'm doing. It's unbelievable how clean that bike is haha.

I think I can rent a rivet tool from advanced auto parts and I'll probably do that for now. I'm still a college student and I will get a rivet tool eventually, but other than this I'm not going to need it for a while.

I used the "screw" type master link. No need for the rivet tool yet still permanent.
