Default split seat F4I vs. RR

Hey, I'm new here and I'm pretty sure I want an F4i because I want bike that is agile and quick, but still comfortable for longer rides.

I've heard the banana seat F4I's are the most comfortable, but are the older split seat F4I's still a lot better than an RR. I like how they look better than the banana seats.

Are the 01-03 models as comfortable as the 04-06? Also are there any specific things to watch out for when buying a CBR? Thanks for any help.

Well I have never sat on a bananna seat F4I before, but I have a '03 F4I and I have sat on a few RR's and I think my bike is alot more comfortable than them, as for the bananna seat Im like you I just don't care much for the look...pretty much I guess my opinion is biased..sorry

You can always get a cowl for the rear banana seat and cover it up. Targa makes a very nice one, like on my bike.

I have an 01 f4i w/ slit seat. I rode my friend's f4 with bannana seat. The seat IS more comfortable, but IMHO- NOT quite enough comfort to ever get me to switch to the bannana. My vote is on the split seat. Although that last picture with the targa cowl looked pretty good...

keep us informed on what you get

consider this...it's not the seat that makes the bike more comfortable when comparing the RR with the 2 seat F4i's, but rather, the riding position.

I have rode my brothers 02 with a split and ended up with a sore ***. So I prefer the 06 (banana seat) for more comfort

the nana seat is a little more comfortable, but once you get some seat time in the split seat it seems to soften up, or your *** just gets tougher

Like Mr. Tahoe said, it's really more about the bike's geometry - distance and angle from seat to pegs and seat to handlebars. The RR riding position is a lot more aggressive, so it can get pretty uncomfortable for a rider my size (6'0") unless you're a contortionist. I was on a buddy's 06 RR and I swear my knees were higher than my elbows.

But comfort is really individual. I have friends who are Harley riders (I get along with everybody) who think my F3 is a torture rack. Sit on them both, imagine what it would feel like to be in that position for a few hours, and make your decision.

I don't know about you guys, but my arms and wrist are the limiting factor on my riding time. I'm sure if I spent 8 hours on my split seat, my *** would be sore, but that wont ever happen. I've sat on the banana seats, and they are more comfortable, but the split seat isn't uncomfortable. If you like the split seat look better, then I would suggest sticking with a split seat. I doubt you will be on your bike long enough to really benefit from the banana seat. Any sport bike isn't meant to be a tourer, and wont be comfortable for long rides. And that has nothing to do with the seat.
