SPliced wires in gauge cluster

SPliced wires in gauge cluster
I have 5 spliced wires in my gauge cluster? 2001 F4i.
Wires are as follows/(wiring diagram label):
Pink/Blue (could be green... speedo)
Yellow/Green (Tacho)
Light Green/Red (Neutral or oil?)
Brown/White-Gold Stripe (Illum or Res Sen?)
Green (.)
Does anyone know why these wires would have been cut?
Does anyone know if this would affect my bike running? Now it will barely start and runs very very very rough. I have to hold it wide open and it's really rich.
I'm replacing the temp sensor tomorrow to see if that will help. Can't think of anything else. No hoses kinked under the tank, vacuum lines all hooked correctly as far as I can tell. Air filter in, air box screwed down. New plugs, new gas. Vent passes air in tank. Not super fast but it doesn't pressurize.
Battery is at 12.6 (at rest) jumps up towards 13 for the few seconds I can get it running. I don't think it's the regulator? I traced these wires though and some tie into the regulator so I was hoping somebody would have an idea. MAP sensor is hooked up, no codes except the occasional temp code. I'll try to re-ground everything this weekend. Maybe that's it.
