Speedometer shows double my speed

Speedometer shows double my speed
I've searched around a bit and found a lot of posts on speedometer problems, but not this.
My speedometer is displaying, as best as I can tell, about double my actual speed. I've read
most of the other posts, and checked in the manuals that I have, but can't seem to come to
a good reason as to why it would read so high. Seems to me that most of problems that can
occur would make it read nothing, or maybe slow, but never fast.
While it is kind of cool to look down and see 120mph, I would really rather know that I'm
doing 60. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Speedometer shows double my speed
Here I am being all concerned about my bike, when the problem is that I'm a retard.
Slip_ thanks for the exceptionally quick response.
I was setting my clock last night. Switched it to kmh.
Next time I post I'm try to make sure its not a total waste of everyones time.

Hahahaha, no problem man. Only reason why I suggested that was because I went through the same thing. I got up to speed, looked down and i was like wow... 100 somethin already?? I feel like I'm barely moving. And then I figured it must have been kmh *****.
But glad you got it sorted out, have fun be safe. Enjoy the forums. Introduce yourself in the new member section if you haven't already.

RE: Speedometer shows double my speed
ahh that's how i feel w/ the 10%+ error, first time I was on the expressway(on the F4i, not on a bike, lol, I've logged probably 2-3k miles of xway driving in my 2+ yrs of riding) I was going about 75 and getting passed by a LOT of cagers, funny since in the 05 Monte Carlo LS that is the DD I drive 65-70 and pass most of the putzes in the Chicagoland area....
and oh yea, my personal best is 200... kph on an '07 ZX6R I rented while I was in Austria last Spring... still comes out to about 124mph which was plenty good for me(there IS a speed-limit on the Autobahn there, although I didn't see any Polizei pulling anyone over in my Vienna-Graz and Vienna-Sankt Poelten round-trips), most ppl drive about 160kph(~100mph) in the 130kph zones(~82mph)
