Default Speedo Correction on F4i

I went for a nice long ride today hitting between 7- 12Krpms on a noice winding road. When I looked down at my digital speedo at about 7500 rpm in 3rd gear it read 125mph! I couldn't have been anywhere over 60mph. It made the rest of the ride interesting hitting indicated speeds of over 160 mph! (I must've been doing about 85)

My rear sprocket is +4 and since I put it on it's been reading about 10 to 15 mph over what I'd expect it to read. I've never done anything to correct it, although I'd like to install a SpeedoHealer someday. I can't understand what could have made it just about double the read half way thru the ride?

When you have any changes to the sprockets it will skew your speedometer. I did -1 in the front and it threw my speedometer off 10-12 mph in almost every gear. If you have a +4, then you will be way off. www.speedohealer.com money well spent, they have a tutorial of how to install it on their site.

not sure what could have caused it to change mid-ride, but dont forget that speedo error is a percentage of your speed, not a set speed. its not going to be 10mph off no matter what speed your going, but rather the faster you go, the more it will be off.

You sure that you didn't accidentally change it to Kilometers/Hour?

I should have known!

That's exactly what I did. Mid ride, I stopped for gas, and reset the odometer, not realizingit was on kmh.

Thanks!

Happens to me all the time. The trick is to change it back while you're riding and not killing yourself!
