You are right the white stripe is the running light... I installed my signals and left that stripe wire out cause for some reason all four signals were forever on after i had all three wires wired into the light. Atleast it was like that on my 04' F4i... so i dropped the stripped wire now they only come on when they are called upon. good luck.
