i have been riding for a few years and this has never happed. the reason i was so scaried was i did shift it like an aka "MAN" and it went to neutral. if i had shifted like a girl then i would just puss it off as me being dumb. but i was very deliberate about my actions, thats the only reason im seeing what this could be.

 

I have never had a false neutral. What oil are you using?

 

False Neutrals do happen like everybody is saying.

Just ride your bike and see if it happens again, if you're tranny is screwed up you'll know if you find a false neutral alot.

It's happened to me a couple times when i first got my bike. Usually when i got into false neutral though it would clankity clankity for a couple seconds........and that's never good, so just make sure you're shifting it firmly and if it keeps up your tranny is prolly goner.

yeah. sounds freakin horrible when you try to put it back into gear doesn't it. like yourtranny just blew up.

 

It tends to happen more often when the oil gets old. Also that Factory pro shift kit is awesome, got one on my F4(came in a box of parts i bought cheap). However $200 bucks is a little pricey, so I wont be putting one in the F4i.

Sorry Mech, didn't mean to degrade you. Just trying to help. Both times this happened to me I thought I shifted it with purpose as well. When it happened to me it sounded like my tranny was going to blow up. I pulled in the cluth, shifted down a gear and back up and it was smooth after that.

 

I've had this happen and it's always when I'm trying to go real fast and shift fast.

I go to shift and it just revs the bike as if it's in neutral but it's inbetween gears I guess. I never hear any grinding noise or anything like that, it just revs. I just click the shifter up again and it kind of clunks into gear.

 

yeah i did...the first time it happened lol. but after that(and the heart attack that shortly followed) never again. oh yeah, it sounded wonderful
