Shaking Mirrors?
 

Ive only owned one bike (F4i), and I bought it with some sick "upgraded" mirrors. Problem is when im riding, the image in the mirror is blurry from the motion of the bike. Obviously at a stop or low speeds they are clear, but anything over around 20mph its hard to even see out of them.

Is this normal?

If not, how can I prevent this?

My mirrors did the same thing a while back, but they just needed tightening. Also, I believe our mirrors have a small rubber gasket/washer (either where the bolt screws in or where the mirror pivots). I can check tomorrow to see where, but other than that, make sure your windscreen is tight and those bolts have the rubber washer as well.

Some vibrations is normal, but excessive (if all bolts are tight) could mean that somewhere between the headlight assembly/upper fairing there is looseness that could be causing the vibrations.

On a second thought, how heavy are those mirrors compared to the stock mirrors?

This is normal if aftermarket mirror is cheap made in china. Targa makes really good ones "also made in china" but quality is great. My previous chrome one shakes like crazy, then change to a Targa set. The Mirror is solid. No shake even at 90mph. Go Targa bro..bit more price but mirrors is for your safety! Same like your bar end, done get the cheap chrome lite ones just for looks, or your handle bar will shake like crazy. safety first , then looks bro.

The ones on it are solid aluminim and glass mirrors. Dont know the brand, but if you type "f4i mirrors" in ebay, they are in the $120-180 range. They feel solid, have the rubber gasket, and are all tight but still shake a bit. Ive been relying on my tiny bubble mirrors I added to the corners.

ive made the mistake and getting cheap ones for my f4/f4i they do shake but i just deal with with it i mean if u cant see through the shaking then just look behind u lol

Hard to say from the pictures, but they look fairly flat. They might just catch a ton of wind. I have really cheap plastic ones and they shake badly too, those look a lot better constructed.

They are somewhat flat, but anymore upright and the angle is such that I can only see my elbows and not behind me. The pivot ball on the back of the actual mirror doesnt have a ton of adjustment, so you have to get the baseline setup with the actual mounts, then fine tune with the mirrors.

Does anyone know if gsxr or zx6r/zx10r mirrors will work?

Still using those mirrors? I had a...mishap in the garage yesterday. So, I'm looking at those for replacement. I found them for the $30 range.

I'm going to guess theyre simply too long. If honda wanted you to see out any further than you can, they would have put wider mirrors on.

The longer the arm, the more the weight of the mirror itself will deflect on bumps.

Spend a lot on aftermarket mirrors that dont suck, or go back to OEM.
