I am sending my bike in for service and I need to know what I should have done and how much it would cost.

I am getting

valves checked
chain adjusted
front brake pads

What else should I get done since my bike has 23,000 miles on it?

Sparks, brake fluid flush and change, change and flush coolant. I personally would change the back pads so they wear evenly. and the price depends on where, a dealership, friend, local shop. usually a valve job is at least 150 alone

I would have them check all fluids, make sure plugs arn't fouled, check rotors to make sure they arn't warped, and fork seals.

Even if you change them at the same time they're not likely to wear evenly. with proper braking you'll always go through fronts faster than rears.

Valves would be about a $200 labor job. My honda shop quoted me around there...170-200

chain adjusted, 30 unless it needs to be replaced front brake pads probably 30-50.

Follow the factory shop manual's maintenance schedule recommendations for your mileage. That's what the Honda shop will do. In addition to what is recommended as needing replacing, any factory Honda shop worth its salt will inspect everything on that interval list & advise you of needs.

Most factory Honda shops will average around $85 per hr & will give you an estimate for the service you're needing.

mine is around 30k on the odometer, but it also has converted sprockets so that number is 10-15% high, so id say im at 25k-27k miles on mine, so im in the same spot as you.

i'm getting ready to do: tires, rotors, air filter, spark plugs, cct, brake fluid / coolant flush.
for all my parts ive came to about $525 total, but im doing the work myself, so i can only imagine how much u'll end up paying for labor

You should have got a speedohealer because thats going to lower the re-sale when you go to sell it.

yea i know, but i dont really hve the money for it, and i dont really plan on making alot back off of it when i sell it. it will probably be anohter couple years before i do, and at that time i should be pretty well off financially and already have another bike... thats the plan anyways, lol

You should consider the chain tightening yourself. It will need to be done more often than other maint and is easy and will save you around 50 smackers. The most exotic tools it requires is a Torque Wrench and larger sockets (22 and 27mm).
