Security!
 

So check this out guys. I take night classes at my college and had been riding my F4i to as much as I could before it got too cold. For reasons unknown, this campus doesn't have bike parking spaces, so I got special permission from security to park it under a camera right up next to my building. Check the pic.

All was well until one night I came out of shop and I noticed that my right frame slider was bent almost completely up! I didn't have the right tools with me so I just dashed home and took it off very cautiously. Fortunately, there was no damage done to the body or motor mount it was connected to. So, the question is, how does this happen? Could somebody have tipped it over or something? Also, what other security measures could I have taken?

some one Nocked it over and picked it back up hoping you wouldn't notice.
I would go get camera feed to find out Who did it and get them to pay for damages.

But yeah, sounds like somebody knocked your bike over and picked it back up.
That sucks.

Also fit some proper frame sliders, they're not supposed to bend

I have this 8017 alarm on my bike and I love it.

It has the paging feature so that if some touches the bike it will give them a warning chirp and if they pick it up off the kickstand the alarm goes off and it will send me a message to my keychain telling me what set the alarm off (Someone touched it, picked it up off kickstand or the Bike was started.)

Scorpio i900 is really good. Probably someone backed into it or something and then picked it up. What a bad luck. Sorry to hear but glad there aint much damage. You should be happy b/c when my bike tipped over the no-cut frame sliders which were installed right by the cylinder head caused a crack in the head and the cover. Now i'm stuck trying to swap these parts and it's hell-of-a-headache, but I can do it.

You got off lucky I think. Someone prolly knocked her over, as stated. Someone else was prolly nice enough to pick her back up.

And if you leave your bike in that location enough, it's gonna be gone. And the only thing the tapes will show is someone in a mask.

Hey thanx for all the input guys. I went and had the tapes looked at and they did no good. :( Couldn't see anyone or anything, just blurs. But I'll definitely look into some proper frame sliders, they were already on there when I picked it up from the previous owner. And check out some of those nifty alarms. :) And I agree with you Kuroshio, so I don't ride it there anymore after that. It was absolutely heart breaking to see my poor F4i like that!

Sans brake disc lock / alarm / heavy chain being parked in a public, high traffic location is better security than a camera. A 2 way pager alarm should help a bit but remember you get what you pay for. Gorilla and Spy 5000m alarms are inexpensive but prolly won't cut thru the building to your classroom.

Scorpio is expensive but top of the line.

I recommend a big scary man with a gun security system, but those are expensive and worry most folk
