Default rusting chain

i just noticed today that my chain is rusting a little. I dont have a place to store it so i just leave it outside with a cover. Is this bad? Should i oil hte chain regularly?

If you don't have somewhere to store it, I recommend investing in a storage unit. Otherwise use your cover, and lube your chain everytime you take it out after long periods of sitting.

A little rusting is normal overtime. But yeah being inthe elementsis going to posemore wear then the norm. I lived in an apt for awhile w/ nocoverand would pretty much only lubeafter some rain hit. Just keep on eye on it and when it looks dry lube that bad boy up. All depends on how often you run it. No worries.

Just lube the chain and ride it. Some of the links on my chain (only the piece on the outside) are a rusty but I've put 2000 miles on my bike like that and no torubles yet (still going to repalce it tho, I think it's been on there since it was new).

oh snap... i wanted to test this before shooting off my mouth but i tried something cool. i used 220c grain sand paper on the light rusting areas on my chain. I was able to rub off the rust with 80w90 gear oil and light rubbing of sand paper. I dont know if this is a proper way to expel rust but it the results speak for themselves.
