Rubber on the front sprocket

HELLO TO ALL ...I just purchased a Vortex front & rear sprockets with a RK 525 chain. On the old front sprocket it has some type of rubber on both sides. The new one does not. Will that in any way damage anything. I also ordered a clip master link so I can do the work my self but after looking at it I'm a little unsure on how safe that would be.:icon_couchhide:

toss the clip master link and get a rivet type master link, you'll still be able to DIY!

Sure thats rubber on the front sprocket or old dried up lube?? In any case no it wont hurt a thing ;)

Hey ZIP!

Check out a thread in "How to". There is sticky one, on the very top.
Btw, just today I bought the tool for rivet type master link. It shouldn't be too complicated.

Only thing I can think of is that it's for sound deadening. So you don't hear the ticky-tacky of the chain going round...?
