So, I ordered a new r/r the other day and fitted today and works a dream. I was under the impression that all it did was stop it over chraging but I am now informed the rectifier part of it is the part that converts AC to DC voltage so with it not charging, this must have been the case. Noob error!

So now I have a properly working machine again and can have some fun again instead of breaking down all the time!
